Alleviate Physical Problems and Psychological Distress Caused by Oversized Breasts
Are heavy, oversized breasts affecting your quality of life? If you struggle with chronic physical pain, embarrassment, anxiety or depression due to the size of your breasts, a surgical breast reduction can help. Dr. Onelio Garcia Jr. is a leading plastic surgeon that offers breast reduction in Miami. He can use his surgical expertise and years of breast surgical experience to give you more proportional breasts that are comfortable for your body type
Freedom from the Limitations of Large Breasts
With smaller, lighter breasts, you won’t have to worry about constant pain in your back, neck or shoulders, or uncomfortable skin irritation. You won’t have deep grooves in your shoulders from your bra straps digging into the skin. You can easily find clothing that fits. You will be able to move around with greater ease, exercise and play sports.
In addition to the physical benefits of breast reduction, there are psychological benefits. With smaller and less noticeable breasts, you will likely experience a tremendous boost in confidence. Your self-image will greatly benefit from having breasts that look like they “fit” your body type and allow your clothes to fit better.
Breast Reduction Surgery Details
Breast reduction surgery is typically an outpatient procedure performed in Dr. Garcia’s fully accredited surgery center. Anesthesia is administered for complete patient comfort.
Dr. Garcia begins by making the incisions on the breasts in the pre-determined pattern. The incision pattern depends on the size of the breasts, degree of sagging and position of the nipple-areola complex. Commonly used incision patterns are:
- The periareolar or “doughnut”-shaped incision around the border of the areolas
- Keyhole or “lollipop”-shaped incision around the border of the areolas and straight down to the crease of the breast
- The “anchor”-shaped incision around the border of the areola, vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the crease
Through the incision, Dr. Garcia removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin to resize the breasts so they are more proportional with the rest of the body. Liposuction techniques may be used in certain cases. Oversized or downward-pointing areolas can be fixed if necessary. The remaining skin is wrapped tightly around the newly shaped breast, and the incisions are closed with sutures.
After surgery, a surgical bra is used to lend support and help to control swelling. Bruising, soreness and tenderness may be present in the early postoperative period and typically subsides over the first couple of weeks.. Patients should plan to take one or two weeks off from work to recover. During that time, activity level should be low. Exercise can be resumed after approximately three to four weeks.
Your Breast Reduction Consultation:
Dr. Garcia uses “state of the art” TouchMD technology during the consultation process. This unique tool allows the patient to review the consultation with Dr. Garcia while reviewing high-definition patient photos of the surgical areas being considered. The smart screen allows for makings and comments to be placed on the photos for illustration purposes. At the end of the consultation the patient receives their private password giving them access to their personal electronic Touch MD file. This allows the patient to review their consultation from the privacy of their home computer. Frequently educational videos (from our library of over 200 procedural videos), are uploaded to the patient’s file to further educate the patient on the procedure that they are considering.
